Tips to deal with cellulite

Did you know that cellulite affects more than 80% of women who have gone through puberty?

Yeah, it’s true. You probably thought it was only you, just like the rest of us, but it’s something that is extremely common. And no matter how confident you are in your skin, and have a positive body image, cellulite has probably affected your confidence at some point in your life.

The uneven, dimpled and lumpy skin on your hips, thighs, stomach and arms has probably caused you more emotional stress than anything else. And we don’t blame you for it. We all want smooth and silky skin like we see on tv. But little do we realize that it’s probably photoshop, because cellulite and texture is not only more common than we think, but also completely normal. It also doesn’t mean that you’re unhealthy. It’s just a natural imperfection, if you must, in the way that fat is contoured in certain areas.

So whether you’ve made peace with it, love it just the way it is, or want to do something to minimize its appearance, we’re all for it. It’s your body, and your call.

If you’re someone who falls in the last category, we have some tips for you to help you manage cellulite better. So keep on reading.

What causes cellulite?

Also described as having a cottage cheese or orange peel texture, cellulite is caused by a buildup of fat underneath the skin. As the fat cells increase, they push against the connective tissue beneath your skin which creates an uneven surface or dimpling.

Having cellulite is based on your genes, body fat percentage and also age. While it is more common in people who weigh more, anyone can get cellulite. It becomes noticeable as you age because your skin becomes thinner and loses its elasticity. Cellulite may also be caused by an imbalance of hormones, a poor diet, genetics and weight gain.

How to deal with cellulite?

Let’s start with a disclaimer: You can never get rid of cellulite for good. But healthier food and lifestyle choices, along with the incorporation of fitness can help you manage it a little better. People try to get rid of cellulite using several methods, some more effective than others. So let’s get into the discussion of a few, shall we?

Dry brushing

This method is known for removing dead skin cells and increasing blood flow. It works similar to a lymphatic massage, helping to release toxins and buildup. It also effectively helps to break down the fatty deposits underneath the skin, doing away with a significant amount of skin dimpling and giving it a more smoother appearance.  Try to incorporate it into your routine a few times a week for noticeable results and be sure to be gentle as being too harsh can cause the skin to become red and inflamed.

Massage

If you love a massage as much as we do, we have good news. It is extremely effective against cellulite. Yes, it’s true. A body massage greatly helps to increase blood circulation and melt away the fat deposits, giving your skin a smoother appearance. Not to mention how it relaxes the entire body and melts away all the built up stress and tension. So get a massage to your heart’s content and don’t forget to use the nourishing Oil Fusion which will heal and hydrate your body while also working to reduce cellulite.

Use coffee grounds

These are known for their natural exfoliating properties, helping to remove dead skin cells and promoting the synthesis of newer skin cells, making the skin more elastic and the cellulite less noticeable. Simply mix ground coffee with a spoon of olive oil and sugar and massage this on the affected area in circular motions. The results will be noticeable almost instantaneously.

Incorporate collagen

As we age, our body’s ability to produce collagen decreases significantly, which results in the sagging of skin. Collagen lends elasticity to our skin while cellulite breaks the collagen bands in the skin’s connective tissue. Working to increase collagen will help against cellulite, giving the skin a smoother appearance. Hyaluronic acid promotes the synthesis of collagen in the body, so using products containing it, like the Leovard Serum, should be quite effective against cellulite.

Exercise

Exercise can help reduce excessive body fat which makes cellulite less noticeable. There are many exercises that one can do, including aerobic exercises and strength training to get a head start on their quest for smoother skin. This will help reduce fat and also define your muscles. For best results create a workout routine that focuses on the parts of your body that are more prone to having cellulite.

Takeaway

Cellulite is extremely common and completely normal, but can easily be the bane of our existence. Once we develop a greater sense of self love, they become insignificant and a perfect imperfection that makes us who we are. So while we’re all for trying to reduce their appearance if you wish to do so, don’t fret too much about them, and try to be confident in your body, just the way you are.
