Get “Glass Skin” in 7 simple steps

Watching K-dramas, you can’t help but be mesmerised by the flawless, clear and glass-like skin that the Korean actors have. How can their skin look like that, you may wonder.

Well, if you are a fan of Korean beauty and know even a little bit about Korean skincare, the term glass skin won’t be a new term for you. Glass skin is your skin at its absolute healthiest, says Alicia Yoon, the founder of Peach & Lily. And it doesn’t just happen overnight, no matter how amazing your genes may be.

It is not a few, but several notches up from any of your basic skin care routines. It requires immense dedication and consistency along with the use of good-quality products. While you can skip a few steps here and there in a normal skincare routine, such a case is not with a glass skincare routine. This particular skin care routine is as perfect as the skin it gives you. Absolutely flawless.

While the glass skin trend hit the US after a long time, it originally gained its popularity in Korea. And it’s no surprise that it originally wasn’t called glass skin. Rather, it was famous for the names ’translucent skin’ or ‘bouncy skin”.

So if you want to level up your skincare routine from normal to glass skin then read on to find out more about it.

So What is Glass Skin?

Glass skin refers to the skin that is hydrated and is at its healthiest. It is extremely dewy looking and almost translucent. It means no pores, no acne, and no blemishes. Glass skin is a bit too difficult to achieve due to how perfect it is, however, there are a few steps you can follow to get that flawless-looking skin.

To form a skincare routine especially focused on hydrating the skin, you not only need a moisturizer but also ingredients that target each of the skin concerns you may have and can also be incorporated with each other so that their effectiveness improves and so does your skin. It also requires a healthy lifestyle and nutritious diet.

Skincare Routine for Achieving Glass Skin

Step 1: Double Cleanse

To achieve that poreless looking complexion you have to completely dissolve every trace of makeup. This includes oil, dirt, pollutants, and sweat. And there is no better way to do this than to double cleanse.

Start by using an oil cleanser or any of your favorite lightweight oil and massage it into your skin. You should start to see your makeup melt away. Then wash your face with warm water.

Now use a water-based cleanser. This helps to remove all the dirt and sweat that might not have been removed after the first step. Use a gentle cleanser that not only hydrates your skin but also keeps it bouncy without stripping out all the natural oils. Leovard Multicleanser maintains the bounciness of the skin through ingredients like hyaluronic acid and papaya extract.

Step 2: Exfoliate

The papaya extract in the Leovard Multicleanser will also help to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells, which is an important step in achieving glassy skin. Exfoliation not only improves the skin’s complexion, lending it a bright glow, but also improves absorption of the products applied hereafter.

Step 3: Toner

Remember, to achieve the goal of glass skin, your skin needs as much moisture as possible, so after double cleansing let your skin air dry so it's ready for the toner. When you apply toner on damp skin, it seeps into your skin while drinking up all the water, making sure that your skin is hydrated and plump which also helps to even out the skin tone.

Now here's the tricky part, you have to apply the toner about 5 times in a row. Yes, this is how you get the most hydrated skin possible. After each layer of your toner is absorbed into the skin you apply another layer of it. This trick is great for all skin types but mostly for drier skin as it hydrates your skin from within its deep layer, making it look and feel plumped up.

Step 4: Essence

This is arguably the most important step of the routine. Essence tends to have active ingredients that increase the cell's natural turnover. This means it helps your skin become brighter, smoother and get you an even skin texture which is the highlight of glass skin.

It does all this by increasing the absorption of skin products that you're using afterward, like helping your moisturizer not only affect your skin’s superficial layer but also hydrate your skin from much deeper layers by absorbing more nutrients than before.

Step 5: Moisturizer

We have mentioned enough times already that moisture is the key to the glass routine. It makes the skin tone even, glowy and plumped up.

You'll need a moisturizer that works well with your skin and doesn’t cause you to break out or make your skin irritated. The Leovard Multicream is a perfect blend of alligator pepper and white willow that not only hydrates your skin but also makes it luminous and silky looking with each use.

Step 6: Serum

A staple in an glass skin care routine is a serum, which not only hydrates the skin, but also helps fight free radical damage. The Leovard Seeum is loaded with antioxidants that help fight the onset of early aging, giving you luminous and youthful skin.

Step 7: Sunscreen

So we just went through our six step skincare routine but we don't want it to go to waste when we go through our day, out and about under the harsh rays of the Sun. Even at a young age, you should start wearing your sunscreen as it protects the skin from harsh UV rays and prevents wrinkles, fine lines, and even skin cancer.

Here's a tip: For our oily skin queens, you know applying heavy sunscreens can cause you to breakout as they are mostly greasy and thick. So use a sunscreen that is labelled non-comedogenic, this means that the product is specially designed to not clog your pores but still provide its maximum benefits as a sunscreen.

Take Away

We all want skin that is gooey and flawless and the glass skincare routine helps you achieve that. However, we can’t ignore the fact that it is nearly impossible to maintain it. You might get those Insta post-worthy results for a few months but you will get pimples and blemishes eventually, because that’s how a human body works.

So even after trying out the routine, if it doesn’t work for you remember that trends don’t define you, and it’s the inner beauty that really matters.
