A little bit of self care hurts no one. In fact, it’s absolutely essential to be able to continue doing what you do, be it trying to grow your own business, improving your career, or being a caretaker and a stay-at-home mom (or dad!). To avoid feeling exhausted and burnt out due to every day responsibilities and tasks, it’s imperative to take out some time, just for yourself amidst the chaos. A few moments to reset and recharge, to be able to show up and excel at what you do.

And what better way than to have an at-home spa day? A little bit of skin pampering, including at-home mani-pedi and some DIY face masks along with the relaxing and soothing aroma of your favourite scented candle. Don’t forget a hot cup of coffee to sip on to truly enjoy the little bit of time off. Ah, what an absolute feeling of bliss.

6 Best DIY Face Masks for Glowing Skin

Read on to find out a few DIY face masks that you can whip up using simple ingredients available in your pantry.

1) Turmeric Soothing Mask

Turmeric can easily become a holy grail ingredient for all your skin woes. It can work wonders for you, helping to get rid of blemishes, reducing the appearance of acne scars, revitalising your skin and giving you a youthful glow. Combined with the antibacterial properties of honey there’s no stopping you from looking and feeling your absolute best in your natural skin. So if you are feeling like your skin is feeling dull and lacking, treat your skin using this amazing and quick mask to give it a little bit of oomph.

Ingredients:

½ tablespoon of turmeric

3 tablespoons of honey

Directions:

  1. Combine both ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Apply it to the face, including your neck.
  3. Leave it for 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse it off.

2) Oatmeal Exfoliating Mask

Exfoliating your face once a week helps to remove dead skin cells that may otherwise trap oil and dirt in your skin, resulting in clogged pores and unwanted pimples. Using an oatmeal mask will do just the trick. With its gentle exfoliating properties, it removes the upper layer of dead skin cells leaving healthy and glowing skin without causing any unnecessary agitation and inflammation like the harsher exfoliants.

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of oat flour

1 tablespoon of honey

½ tablespoon of milk

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Apply the mask to your face.
  3. Gently rub it on your skin using circular hand motions for about 3 minutes.
  4. Let it sit on your face for about 2 more minutes.
  5. Rinse it off to experience smooth and radiant skin.

3) Egg White Anti-aging Mask

Egg whites are super versatile. You can use them on their own or with any of your other favorite DIY ingredients and voila! You’ve got a mask that not only minimizes the appearance of your pores but also tightens your skin, working amazingly as an anti-aging mask.

Ingredients:

1 organic egg’s white

Directions:

  1. Take out your egg white in a bowl and beat it with a fork for a minute or two.
  2. Apply the mask onto your cleansed face, making sure to avoid the eye area.
  3. Let it sit for 15 minutes or until dried
  4. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

4) Mixed Oil Nourishing Mask

Different oils provide different benefits to your skin. While jojoba oil can help to soothe the angry acne breakouts along with alleviating symptoms of eczema, coconut oil is great for soothing dry and flaky skin. Other oils like olive, hempseed, avocado, and flaxseed oil are scientifically proven to be great for collagen synthesis and for replenishing your skin resulting in a natural and radiant glow.

You can use any of these oils as a face mask alone or just by mixing them depending on what your skin requires. But what if we say that all these oils and their magical benefits are already present in one bottle? The Leovard Oil Fusion is a simple yet effective concoction of all these oils making it great for rehydrating and nourishing your dull, dry and depleted skin. It benefits the skin by rejuvenating, replenishing, nourishing and improving its texture.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon of Leavord Oil Fusion

Directions:

  1. Apply the Oil Fusion on your face avoiding your eye and mouth area.
  2. Rub it in for 3 minutes in gentle circular motions.
  3. Let it sit for 2 more minutes.
  4. Rinse off with a gentle cleanser.

5) Cocoa Brightening Mask

Cocoa powder is good for your health, inside and out. On the one hand, it can brighten up your mood with the sweet desserts made out of it, and on the other, its high antioxidant properties that can help to brighten up your skin while also promoting the synthesis of collagen, making your skin feel uplifted, glowing and healthy.

Ingredients:

4 tablespoon raw cocoa powder

2 tablespoon cream

1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Apply a thick layer to your skin.
  3. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with warm water.

6) Matcha Cleansing Mask

Matcha, with its antioxidant properties, is great for cleansing your skin without leaving it feeling too dry or dehydrated. Make sure to use original matcha or green tea leaves without any harmful additives or sweeteners to protect your skin from any skin sensitivity and inflammation.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon Matcha powder (or powdered green tea leaves)

1/2 teaspoon warm water

Directions:

  1. Mix both ingredients until a smooth paste is formed.
  2. Apply to your face including your neck.
  3. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with warm water.

Take Away

Face masks have been used for centuries, not just for clearing out your skin but also to indulge in a bit of self-care and pampering once in awhile. To take just a moment out of your busy schedule and treat yourself the way you deserve, without any distractions and interruptions. Because one can’t pour from an empty cup, and you fill yours by putting yourself first. Only then can you spread happiness and positivity around yourself.

Because if you want to change the world and make good things happen around you, why not first do it for yourself?
